Robert C. Capristo graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1969 and in 1972, received his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University.

He is a principle partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Gillotti, Capristo & Beck, P.C.

He was past Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section, and served on its Executive Council since 1976.

He was past chairman of the Allegheny County Bar Association Family Law Section and past co-chairman of its Judiciary Committee.

He was appointed to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Domestic Relations Rules Committee in 2000 and served as Chairperson in 2004 and 2005.   He is an active member of the Committees on Drafting Rules of Civil Procedure for Divorce, Support, Custody, Equity, and Protection from Abuse Actions, and drafted legislative recommendations for the Divorce Code of 1980 and the amendments of 1988.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, past President of the Pennsylvania Chapter, and it's National Board of Governors, and served as counsel from 2000-2001.   He is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has served as Secretary.

His lectures include those before the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Psychological Association, Pittsburgh Chapter, American Society of Appraisers, Pittsburgh Chapter, Diocese of Pittsburgh, Divorced Catholics, and the Judiciary of Pennsylvania.

He is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America; Naifeh and Smith; Woodward/White, Inc.; Aiken, S.C.; vols. 1991-2006.
